A person has the right to ask an organisation whether or not it is using or storing their personal information. They can also ask it for copies of their personal information, either verbally or in writing. This is called the right of access and is commonly known as making a subject access request or SAR. See also Your Right of Access (ICO). This is different from a Freedom of Information Act request.
